Acer Spin 11 Chromebook Review

Designed primarily for use in the world of education, the Acer Spin 11 was conceived to be durable and reliable so that it would be able to withstand daily use by careless students.

After having spent hours testing this Chromebook, here is my opinion about it.

Practical and durable are the two words that I would choose to describe this Chromebook’s design.

Conceived to withstand hours of daily use by students with clumsy hands, this computer is the most solidly constructed Chromebook I have ever seen.

Acer Spin 11 The edges of its case are angular while being somewhat rounded. The Spin 11 has a rubberized edge which protrudes slightly from the rest of its case and which enables this Chromebook to survive falls from a height of up to 1.22 meters.

How to search for a visited site in history and favorites using keywords in Google Chrome

If we’re going to talk about web browsers, it is worth mentioning that Google Chrome is the most used browser by users worldwide. And that is because in addition to all the features, functions, settings and configuration options, you can get more performance from Google’s browser making use of the large number of extensions available in the Chrome web store. Web browsers are linked directly to Internet browsing and searches on different search engines, which are the ones that allow users to perform searches on any topic or a particular website.

However, modern browsers do not index the entire web page when making suggestions to the user based on pages visited or marked as favorites in the past. Because of this, although on many occasions you obtain results based on the index of the title of the page or its URL, when you can’t remember the URL or the website’s name you have to look in the browsing history for the previously visited site that you couldn’t remember.

Without a doubt, a very heavy task that can be very time consuming and that will be much easier thanks to WorldBrain, a Google Chrome extension that indexes all web pages visited or marked as favorites to allow you to search for them in the browser’s own address bar.

Acer Convertible Chromebook R11 Review (11.6-inch HD Touchscreen Notebook)

A Sheet of Aluminum tops the back of the Acer Chromebook R11’s screen. This is probably the only noble detail in a product that neither hides nor is ashamed of its humble conception and modest benefits. But for a price around 300 dollars little more can be asked of this hybrid between a laptop and tablet operating under Chrome OS. Let’s not forget: it’s a Chromebook and from Acer, an excellent utilitarian firm.

The chromebook market begins to show signs of saturation. There are many companies that have jumped onboard the bandwagon of computers running Google’s operation system and whose philosophy is to always be connected. Asus, Dell, Toshiba, HP and obviously Google have already shown their cards.

And one thing has become clear: with the exception of a few cases in which the price seems like a rocket heading towards a galaxy of millionaires, the idea here it communing decent benefits -such as a battery that holds a full work session- with attractive prices. The Acer Chromebook R11 tries to wager battle in this area.

Laptop and Tablet Computer

The first thing that draws the attention in the Chromebook R11 is its successful minimalist and functional design. Elegant lines, a thickness of 2 centimeters and a weight -somewhat convincing- of 1.25 kilos. Despite this last detail, it is really a convenient and affordable product, of those that liked to be carried around (if you aren’t the typical fanboy of certain brands with allergy to more functional products).

Microsoft Edge is no match for Chrome or Firefox, at least for now

In addition to the market share of operating systems, Netmarketshare has also published data from web browsers, concluding that Internet Explorer still leads and that Microsoft Edge is no replacement for Chrome or Firefox, at least for now.

All versions of Internet Explorer accounted for half of the market (50.86%). IE 11 is number one with 24.36 percent. It is to be expected because right now it’s the latest and most widely used browser in Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. Not surprisingly, Internet Explorer 8 is the second in Microsoft web browsers (11.64%), since it is the reference in business environments with applications and services, specifically supported in this release.

Control the number of Chrome tabs to limit the use of RAM

Any modern Operating System works well with 1 or 2 gigabytes of RAM. The problem is when the most common tool used in a computer – generally being the browser – takes control and saturates our system, especially in hogging all the RAM. Modern browsers use “sandbox” systems to isolate processes and to protect themselves and our systems, leading to a lot of RAM consumption.

This trick is specially recommended for computers with 1 to 4 gigs of RAM, where we want to keep an eye on our browsers RAM consumption. This way we will saturate it less and we won’t have to manually take care of it every time.
